About

You can read my writing samples here. And here’s a little more about me!

Michigan Girl, Owner

I own Michigan Girl LLC, a company that brings women together! Events include an annual Chicago road trip (complete with motor coaches, jolly drivers and 50 Michigan women laughing!), a MiGirl Bike Club and the annual Mom Walk, Wine & 1k, which raises funds for breast health.

Freelance Writer & Editor

I have been published in Writer’s Digest, Motherwell, Literary Mama and others. As well as regional publications such as Traverse Magazine, Traverse City Business News, The Ticker, Mountain Life, Families First, The Traverse City Record-Eagle and more. I published a regional women’s publication, Grand Traverse Woman, in Northern Michigan for 18 years. I now freelance full-time, as well as host women’s events and wrangle women on bikes.

Writing Instructor

I teach online writing classes for WOW! Women on Writing such as “Personal Essays & Weekly Feedback” and “Motherhood Essays.”

Women’s Events, TV & Radio

I have also hosted women’s network nights and luncheons for the past 2 decades. Over the course of the last 18 years, I have hosted over 9,000 women at networking events, carted 16 busloads of women to Chicago for GTWoman’s annual girls weekends and kept innumerable secrets.

I’m also a regular guest on TV and radio programs, speaking about (funny & frank) issues concerning women. For eight years, I was recognized in the top 40Under40 list by the Traverse City Business News for my work in giving women a forum in the community. Until I got too old, LOL!

Awards & Causes

I am on the Festival Foundation Board in Traverse City, MI and help with the world-famous National Cherry Festival! I love it!! I am also an advocate for many area organizations including Breast Cancer Awareness, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, American Cancer Society, Domestic Abuse Programs, March of Dimes and more. I was named the Honorary Co-Chair for March of Dimes Chefs Auction in the past.

In a Nutshell

I have two sons, a husband, a MacBook and a mountain bike. I am married to Tim, a guy who’s good with a hammer and owns Chapple Homes – and have two sons, Kendall and Nelson. When the sun is shining (or not), I’m out mountain biking on the gorgeous trails of Northern Michigan. I can be reached at kandace@kandacechapple.com.
